Superintendent's Welcome Letter

An exciting new school year is upon us in the Lockhart Independent School District.  Over 4,500 students will come to our campus doors and begin a journey for them that may span from as little as one year or up to 12 years.  I look forward to their return and their journey in 2010-2011.

The 2010-2011 school year will be a magnificent year in the Lockhart Independent School District.  It will be filled with remarkable energy and positive attitudes in our staff members.  We are a little crisper in our step, a little gentler with our words, and a little more urgent in our focus.  Each of these elements is part of the mix that brings us closer to our goal of ensuring success for each and every student in our District.

We have many opportunities to celebrate the successes of our District for the 2009-2010 school year.  Four campuses (Bluebonnet Elementary, the Freshman M.L. Cisneros Campus, Navarro Elementary, Plum Creek Elementary) were rated as Exemplary, three campuses (Clear Fork Elementary, Lockhart Junior High School, Lockhart High School) were rated as Recognized, our District earned Recognized status, and Pride High School earned the highest rating possible for an alternative education campus.  Quite simply, I am proud to speak of our accomplishments to the parents, patrons, and business leaders in our community.  They, too, are proud of our accomplishments.

It has been said that schools are a reflection of what each community values for its children.  Academic achievement is clearly valued in the Lockhart community.  In addition, our schools are clean, safe, and have character because we believe that students deserve the very best that we can offer.

The 2010-2011 school year in the Lockhart ISD will be unprecedented in terms of student achievement and success.  Gratitude, greatness, and positive attitude will mark each day in our District, and students will prosper as a result of our continued commitment to “Create Greatness” in the Lockhart ISD.  We invite you to become an active part of something far greater than yourself by volunteering to help.  Our students need you and our staff welcomes you.

Sincerely,

Jose L. Parra, Ed.D.
